CVE-2025-23797Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via forged administrative requests

Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Cross-site request forgery in Mike Selander WP Options Editor 1.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to perform privileged actions. Patchstack has not disclosed the request handler or the missing request-authenticity check that accepts attacker-controlled requests. Exploitation requires a higher-privileged WordPress user to act while authenticated, after which the request runs with that user's authority and can escalate privileges.
