Browser script execution via cmd CRLF injection
Published Mar 17, 2025 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Mercurial hgweb before 6.9.4 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in a target browser via a crafted link. The web interface accepts CRLF characters in the cmd request value and incorporates the resulting text into an HTTP response without rejecting the injected line break. No authentication is required, but a user must open the link; WSGI layers such as mod_wsgi can reject the malformed response instead.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
