Unauthorized DDNS modification via manipulated SOAPAction
Published Mar 17, 2025 · Updated Mar 17, 2025
Improper authorization in D-Link DIR-823G 1.0.2B05_20181207 allows remote attackers to modify DDNS settings through HNAP1 requests. The SetDDNSSettings handler at /HNAP1/ accepts a manipulated SOAPAction value without correctly enforcing authorization before applying DDNS configuration changes. No authentication or user interaction is required; the bounded consequence is unauthorized modification of the router's DDNS configuration.
