Stored XSS via forged administrative settings requests
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Dave Konopka UpDownUpDown 1.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to store malicious scripts via forged requests. The plugin's settings-update function omits correct WordPress nonce validation and accepts attacker-chosen script content from a forged request. Exploitation requires an administrator to follow an attacker-controlled link, after which stored script executes in the affected site's browser context.
