Weak password hashing in IROAD Dash Cam FX2 20250308 allows remote attackers on its Wi-Fi network to recover the root password. The appliance stores the root credential with a computationally weak hash in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow, allowing offline cracking. An attacker must join the dash camera’s local Wi-Fi network and bypass device registration; the demonstrated consequence is root-credential disclosure.
