Stored XSS via forged administrator settings request
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in Vimal Ghorecha RSS News Scroller 2.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts via forged requests. A settings-handling function omits or incorrectly performs WordPress nonce validation, so it accepts attacker-chosen data under an administrator's authenticated session and stores executable script. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to visit a crafted page or click a malicious link; the stored script then executes when affected content is viewed.
