Local root escalation via symlink-following backup operations

Symlink following in SUSE openSUSE Tumbleweed cyrus-imapd before 3.8.4-2.1 allows local users to gain root privileges. The root-run daily-backup.sh script performs chown and chmod operations inside the cyrus-owned /var/lib/imap directory and follows attacker-staged symlinks. Control of the cyrus service account is required, and successful exploitation bypasses that account's isolation to modify files as root.
