CVE-2025-23388Network attack vector

Unauthenticated server crash via recursive update handler

Published Apr 11, 2025 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Stack overflow in SUSE Rancher 2.8.0 through 2.8.12, 2.9.0 through 2.9.6, and 2.10.0 through 2.10.2 allows remote attackers to crash the server. The authProvidersStore.Update method calls itself with the same request data instead of delegating, recursively exhausting the Go stack. The unauthenticated /v3-public/authproviders endpoint exposes the handler with local or external authentication configured; the crash interrupts Rancher Manager but not managed downstream clusters.
