CVE-2025-23211Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via unsandboxed recipe templates

Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Server-side template injection in Tandoor Recipes before 1.5.24 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through recipe instructions. The instruction renderer passes attacker-controlled text to Jinja2's unrestricted Template class, allowing crafted expressions to reach Python classes and spawn shell commands. Any application user who can create and view a recipe can run commands as the service account; the supplied Docker Compose deployment runs that code as root.
