CVE-2025-23208Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthorized repository access via retained IdP groups

Published Jan 17, 2025 · Updated Jan 22, 2025

Improper privilege management in The zot Project zot 2.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to retain revoked repository access. SetUserGroups in BoltDB and DynamoDB appends current IdP group claims to stored memberships instead of replacing them, preserving removed groups. A deployment must use IdP group-based authorization, and a user formerly in an authorized group can continue viewing or modifying repositories permitted to that group.
