CVE-2025-23160

Service interruption via leaked SCP structure

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 23, 2026

Resource leak in the MediaTek video-codec firmware initialization path in Linux allows local users to interrupt service on SCP devices. mtk_vcodec_fw_scp_init retains the mtk_scp structure when allocation of the firmware structure fails instead of releasing the SCP reference. Reachability requires a MediaTek device with a system companion processor and local low-privileged access; the public record does not identify how the allocation failure is induced.
