CVE-2025-23158

Kernel memory corruption via unchecked HFI queue size

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the Qualcomm Venus HFI driver in affected Linux kernels since 4.13 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory. The queue read and write paths trust firmware-controlled q_size, calculate excess free space, and let memcpy pass the allocated shared queue. Access to a Venus V4L2 device node is required; crafted encode or decode traffic can disclose or corrupt kernel memory and crash or wedge video processing.
