IRQ resource leak via incomplete request failure cleanup
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Resource cleanup error in the Linux pci_endpoint_test driver 4.19 and later leaves IRQ entries allocated after an interrupt request fails. The failure path in pci_endpoint_test_request_irq() calls pci_endpoint_test_free_irq_vectors() as though every requested IRQ had been released, leaving /proc/irq entries and triggering a WARN during cleanup. The condition requires the PCI endpoint test driver, a configured endpoint device, and a devm_request_irq() failure; published evidence reports a warning and resource leak, not privilege gain or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
