Authenticated code execution via denylisted BinaryFormatter gadgets
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Deserialization in Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.0.310 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code on the backup server. The Veeam Mount Service passes attacker-controlled xmlFrameworkDs or BackupSummary DataSet objects to BinaryFormatter under an incomplete type denylist. Any domain user can reach this sink when the Windows backup server is domain joined and obtain code execution on that server.
