CVE-2025-23117Known exploitation

Root code execution via unvalidated firmware packages

Published Mar 1, 2025 · Updated Mar 5, 2025

Insufficient firmware validation in Ubiquiti UniFi Protect Cameras before 4.74.106 allows attackers to execute code as root via an adjacent network. The firmware update handler accepts update packages without adequate validation, allowing attacker-supplied firmware to run with root privileges. The update interface requires authentication and adjacent-network reachability, although ZDI reports that the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed.
