CVE-2025-23099

Local privilege escalation via reused undersized NPU queues

Published Jun 2, 2025 · Updated Jun 3, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in the Samsung Exynos NPU driver allows local users on Exynos 1480 and 2400 devices to gain kernel privileges. On a second npu_queue_prepare call with larger user-supplied counts, npu_queue_alloc reuses smaller queues and npu_queue_mapping writes beyond kernel memory. A malicious Android application in the untrusted_app SELinux context needs no special privileges and can use the corruption for local privilege escalation.
