Update tampering via improper certificate validation
Published Feb 1, 2025 · Updated Mar 13, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Ubiquiti UniFi OS allows man-in-the-middle attackers to alter application updates in transit. The application updater does not properly validate the update server certificate, but Ubiquiti has not disclosed the specific validation check that fails. Exploitation requires Identity Enterprise to be configured and an attacker to interpose on the update connection; the reported consequence is update integrity compromise, not data disclosure or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
