Stored XSS via unescaped aws_search_terms shortcode attributes
Published Mar 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Mihail Barinov Advanced Woo Search 3.28 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via shortcode attributes. The aws_search_terms shortcode accepts user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization and emits them without adequate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store a crafted shortcode in a page, and the injected script runs whenever a user visits that page.
