CVE-2025-22936Public exploit

Adjacent network access via predictable default key

Published Feb 6, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026

Weak default WiFi credentials in Smartcom SAM-4G1G-TT-W-VC and SAM-4F1F-TT-W-A1 routers allow attackers to access private networks. The show_wifi_pass() function in three firmware binaries lowercases the serial number, appends SmartcomWifi, hashes the result with MD5, and uses the first eight hexadecimal characters as the default WPA key. Because the serial derives from the BSSID broadcast in clear in WiFi beacon frames, attackers within radio range can calculate the key, join the internal network, decrypt traffic, and reach the router's local administration interface.
