Process crash via tile-grid stream overread
Published Feb 18, 2025 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
Heap buffer overflow in FFmpeg avformat development code allows attackers to crash media processing with a crafted tile-grid file. The dump_stream_group function iterates the tile count and dereferences stg->streams using each tile offset index even when the group contains fewer streams. Processing the file can read beyond the heap stream array and crash the process; FFmpeg states that no released version was affected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
