Device crash via crafted PPTP username
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Jul 7, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Edimax RE11S firmware 1.11 allows remote attackers to crash the device via a crafted PPTP username. The overflow occurs when setWAN processes attacker-controlled pptpUserName input; public materials do not disclose the specific copy operation or destination buffer. A network request can interrupt service without authentication or user interaction.
