CVE-2025-2288

Arbitrary code execution via out-of-bounds DOE write

Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in Rockwell Automation Arena Simulation 16.20.08 and earlier allows local users to execute code via a malicious DOE file. The DOE-file parser inadequately validates file-supplied data and writes beyond its allocated memory buffer. Exploitation requires a legitimate user to open the file; successful exploitation can disclose information and run attacker-controlled code in that user's context.
