CVE-2025-2286

Local code execution via uninitialized DOE pointer

Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025

Use of an uninitialized pointer in Rockwell Automation Arena 16.20.08 and earlier allows local users to execute code via a malicious DOE file. Arena's DOE-file handling inadequately validates user-supplied data before using an uninitialized pointer, enabling information disclosure and arbitrary code execution. Exploitation requires a legitimate user to open the crafted file, after which attacker-controlled code runs with that user's application privileges.
