CVE-2025-22831

Data corruption via NTFS VOLUME_NAME buffer overflow

Published Oct 14, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in the NTFS parser in AMI Aptio V before AptioV_5.040 allows local users to corrupt data and interrupt availability. The BIOS parser writes beyond a destination buffer while parsing an untrusted VOLUME_NAME field; AMI has not disclosed the responsible function or boundary error. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and an additional attack condition, with effects limited to data corruption and firmware availability.
