Administrator-context script execution via caption-preview pretext
Published Jan 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Reflected XSS in Image Source Control 2.29.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute scripts when an administrator opens a crafted link. The backend caption-preview pretext renders attacker-controlled link content without restricting it to text. Exploitation requires an administrator to follow the link, after which the script runs in that user's WordPress browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
