Administrator access via unauthenticated arbitrary option updates
Published Mar 29, 2025 · Updated Mar 31, 2025
Missing authorization in Checkout Mestres do WP for WooCommerce 8.6.5 through 8.7.5 allows remote attackers to gain administrator access. The wp_ajax_nopriv_cwmpUpdateOptions route parses attacker-supplied POST data into option names and values, then calls update_option() for each entry without a capability check or option allowlist. No account is required; changing users_can_register and default_role permits creation of an administrator account and full site control.
