Account takeover via unverified password reset
Published May 9, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Unverified password change in IMITHEMES Listing 3.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over any account via password reset. The imic_reset_password_init() function updates a user's password without properly validating the supplied verification code. No authentication is required; knowledge of a user's email address is enough to replace that user's password, including an administrator's.
