Local privilege escalation via privileged RemoteViews code loading
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Privilege escalation in Android 13 through 15 allows local users to run arbitrary Java code in a privileged context through RemoteViews handling. The getContextForResourcesEnsuringCorrectCachedApkPaths path acts as a confused deputy while establishing a resource context, allowing attacker-controlled code to load with the deputy's privileges. Exploitation requires user interaction and low local privileges; successful use executes code with the privileged context's authority.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
