Elevated project access via incomplete admin revocation
Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
Improper access control in GitLab CE/EE allows remote authenticated users to retain revoked instance-administrator access. The instance-administrator revocation path leaves a downgraded account with elevated privileges to groups and projects; GitLab has not published a more specific code locus or operation. Exploitation requires an account that previously held instance-administrator status, and the retained authorization permits continued access to group and project resources.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=17.10 <17.10.1
- Affected versionversion=17.4 <17.8.6
