Local privilege escalation via system-user activity launch
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Privilege escalation in Android 13 and 14 allows local users to launch arbitrary activities as the system user without user interaction. The android_app module definition in Android.bp improperly permits an application to start any activity under the system-user context. Exploitation requires local execution on an affected Wear OS device but no additional execution privileges, granting access to activities with the system user's authority.
