CVE-2025-2240Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded metrics-cache growth

Published Mar 12, 2025 · Updated Aug 13, 2026

Denial of service in SmallRye Fault Tolerance allows remote attackers to exhaust application memory through metrics requests. Undescribed programmatic Guard objects receive random UUID metric tags, and the metrics collector retains a separate cache entry for each identifier. Exposure requires an application path that creates undescribed guards and publishes metrics; continued cache growth can crash the application and interrupt hosted services.
