CVE-2025-22258Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via WebSocket heap overflow

Published Oct 14, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025

Heap overflow in Fortinet FortiOS and related appliances allows remote authenticated users to execute code through crafted HTTP requests. The Node.js daemon's GUI WebSocket handler fails to bound attacker-controlled request data before writing it into a heap buffer. High-privilege authentication is required; successful exploitation elevates privileges and permits code or command execution on the appliance.
