Unauthenticated post publishing via unchecked parse_query
Published Mar 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Directorist 8.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to publish any WordPress post without authentication. The plugin's parse_query callback changes a targeted post_status to publish without verifying the caller's WordPress capabilities. A network request from an unauthenticated visitor is sufficient to expose draft or otherwise unpublished content by forcing it into the published state.
