CVE-2025-22213Network attack vector

Authenticated PHP code execution via extension change

Published Mar 11, 2025 · Updated Mar 11, 2025

Unrestricted file upload in Joomla! CMS 4.0.0 through 4.4.11 and 5.0.0 through 5.2.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code. The Media Manager's extension checks allow an editable file to be renamed with an arbitrary extension, including .php, creating an executable server-side script. Media Manager edit permission is required; it is assigned by default to every backend group and to frontend Editor and higher groups, bounding access to authenticated content editors.
