CVE-2025-22145Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unsanitized locale inclusion

Published Jan 8, 2025 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

File inclusion in Carbon before 2.72.6 and 3.0.0 through 3.8.3 allows remote attackers to execute uploaded PHP files via setLocale. AbstractTranslator::resetMessages appends the locale to each translation directory path and passes the resulting filename to PHP include without first rejecting path separators. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled locale input and permit a PHP file upload into a directory searched by Carbon; successful inclusion runs that file with the application's privileges.
