CVE-2025-22124

Clustered RAID hang via zero-length superblock write

Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Denial of service in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to hang clustered RAID operations through ordinary writes. In __write_sb_page(), a node-one page index can equal storage.file_pages, reducing bitmap_limit to zero and making md_super_write issue a zero-length write. A clustered MD array with per-node write-intent bitmaps is required; the first 4 KiB superblock area remains stale and grow or resize processing hangs.
