Denial of service via invalid netdev unregister
Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel idpf driver 6.7 through 6.14.1 allows local users to disrupt availability during device removal. The idpf initialization path ignores a register_netdev() failure, then idpf_vport_dealloc() calls unregister_netdev() for an unregistered interface and triggers WARN_ON(). Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an idpf vport whose network-device registration fails; the reported consequence is a kernel warning during driver removal.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
