CVE-2025-22114

Kernel memory corruption via clobbered validation result

Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Improper input validation in Linux 6.14 through 6.14.1 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory by mounting a crafted Btrfs image. In btrfs_validate_super(), validate_sys_chunk_array() overwrites an earlier error return, bypassing superblock geometry and identity checks. An unprivileged local session able to mount a loop-backed image can trigger out-of-bounds kernel reads and writes, control-flow hijacking, or a kernel panic.
