CVE-2025-22096

Kernel oops via sign-reversed dependency error

Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Denial of service in the Linux kernel 6.14 through 6.14.1 allows local users to trigger a kernel oops through an invalid MSM GPU dependency submit. The msm_parse_deps function negates the already-negative SUBMIT_ERROR(EINVAL) result, passes positive EINVAL to ERR_PTR, and thereby defeats the later IS_ERR check. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access to the MSM DRM submission path and interrupts the affected host without reported data disclosure or modification.
