Kernel compromise via mis-scaled Geneve pointer arithmetic
Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Heap out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel nft_tunnel allows local users to compromise affected Linux and Siemens controller kernels. In nft_tunnel_obj_init, multiple NFTA_TUNNEL_KEY_OPTS_GENEVE attributes are advanced after casting to struct geneve_opt, so pointer scaling skips past the compact option buffer before memcpy writes 124 bytes. The trigger requires a local low-privileged process with Netfilter Netlink access and corrupts kernel memory, with crash or kernel-compromise consequences.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
