CVE-2025-22049

Local kernel memory corruption via undersized DMA alignment

Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Improper DMA buffer alignment in affected Linux kernels on LoongArch allows local users to corrupt memory through small APBDMA buffers. The LoongArch cache header leaves ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN at the one-byte default even though APBDMA writes in 16-byte cacheline units, so a short kmalloc buffer can be overrun. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an APBDMA-backed peripheral; the erroneous cacheline write can corrupt adjacent kernel memory and crash the system.
