CVE-2025-22041Network attack vector

Kernel memory corruption via stale session reference

Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux ksmbd starting in 5.15 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt kernel memory through SMB multichannel sessions. ksmbd_sessions_deregister() frees a session through the global table while a connection's sessions list retains and later dereferences it. Exploitation requires multichannel mode and a second channel established through the first channel's connection, enabling invalid kernel-memory access and service interruption.
