Memory-offlining hang via device-exclusive hugetlb pages

Denial of service in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to obstruct reclaim and hang memory offlining with device-exclusive pages. mm/gup.c permits FOLL_SPLIT_PMD on hugetlb VMAs, creating device-exclusive PTEs whose mapcount handling breaks folio migration, swapout, splitting, and hardware-poison processing. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an HMM-capable device path; affected folios resist reclaim, and privileged memory offlining can loop indefinitely.
