Service interruption via DRM fence reference leak
Published Apr 3, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Resource exhaustion in affected Linux kernel 6.2 and later releases allows local users to interrupt service through a DRM fence leak. In drm_sched_entity_kill(), the callback-failure path retains prev, the last_scheduled fence, without balancing the acquired reference. Triggering requires a DRM scheduler entity to be killed while dma_fence_add_callback() fails; accumulated leaked references can exhaust resources and disrupt availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
