Local system hang via nonfunctional HID sensor
Published Apr 2, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in affected Linux kernels allows local users to hang the system by querying an HP 5MP Camera sensor through iio_info. The camera reports an unimplemented HID sensor that hid-sensor-hub exposes, causing runtime power management to wait on an unresponsive interface. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and the physical camera to be connected; the resulting condition hangs the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
