Kernel memory corruption via undersized XDP test packet
Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel BPF test-run path allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through undersized XDP test data. bpf_test_init accepts user_data shorter than an Ethernet header, after which eth_skb_pkt_type reads skb data as though that header existed. Reachability requires local access to BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN with live XDP frames; triggering the defect can expose or alter kernel memory or crash the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
