CVE-2025-21802

Kernel crash via concurrent hns3 driver unloads

Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2026

Improper resource locking in Linux and Siemens MFP controllers allows local users to crash the kernel during concurrent driver unloads. The hclge removal path iterates hnae3_ae_dev_list to disable SR-IOV while concurrent hns3 removal can delete the same device nodes without a dedicated unload mutex. Exploitation requires local privileges to unload both drivers on a system using the hns3 network stack, and the resulting kernel oops interrupts service.
