Spurious kernel warning via premature ASTDP timeout
Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Timeout handling in the AST DisplayPort driver in Linux kernel 6.13 allows local users to trigger a spurious kernel warning. The ast_dp_set_enable path waits only 200 milliseconds for a transmitter that can require up to one second, then warns even though signal enablement succeeds. Reachability requires an AST DisplayPort transmitter and a modeset that enables its video signal; the Linux CNA describes the effect as cosmetic, without lost output or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
