Kernel crash via premature pass-through interrupt
Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Race condition in the synaptics input driver in Linux allows local users to crash the kernel by enabling a pass-through port. The pass-through interrupt handler accesses the associated psmouse instance before the driver has attached that instance to the serio port. Exploitation requires local access and compatible Synaptics hardware, and the resulting impact is a host service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
