CVE-2025-21735

Memory corruption via unchecked NFC pipe identifier

Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel NFC NCI subsystem allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt kernel memory via NFC traffic. The nci_hci_create_pipe() function returns an unsigned pipe identifier without first ensuring that it is below NCI_HCI_MAX_PIPES, allowing nci_hci_connect_gate() to access pipe state out of bounds. Reachability requires an NFC-capable system and nearby control of NFC traffic; the published record establishes memory corruption but no specific crash or code-execution outcome.
